PROPER INFLATION OF RADIAL TRUCK TIRES IS THE MOST IMPORTANT MAINTENANCE PRACTICE TO ENSURE LONG TIRE LIFE. UNDERINFLATION MUST NEVER BE ALLOWED IN OVER-THE-ROAD TRUCK. - Goodyear Radial Truck Tire and Retread Service Manual.

KEEP YOUR TIRES PROPERLY INFLATED HAS ITS BENEFITS:

Why do I need this? I check my pressures every day.

All of the studies show that if you can keep your pressures within 3% of the set pressure you will have improved safety, mileage, and tire wear. Our tire pressure monitoring system constantly gives you accurate readings of the pressure in each tire. Most of the air gauge used to check tire pressure is out by more than 5%. Our system will also warn you of a slow leak or high wheel temperature when you are driving.

Will the cold affect the sensor?

Because the sensor is inside the wheel it will always give an accurate temperature and will not be affected by snow or ice. The sensor will work down to -40 Celsius. If it gets colder than that the sensor will not read but will start transmitting again when you are moving because the wheel will warm up.

Will the sensor affect wheel balance?

No the sensor will not affect wheel balance. Because it is on the rim close to the center of rotation and it is not heavy it will not affect the balancing.

Will liquid or bead type balancing system affect the sensor?

Some liquid will not affect the sensor but some will. Please check with us for the list of liquids that work with tire pressure monitor sensors. Bead type balancing system usually does not affect sensor.

Once installed what type of maintenance do I have to perform?

This system requires no maintenance after installation until battery is used up or sensor is damaged. The sensor life is 5-7 years.

Can the sensors get damaged during tire installation or when the tire blows out?

The sensor should not be damaged if you follow the installation manual. The sensor could be damaged when the tire blows out.

Can the system operate on both 12V and 24V vehicles?

Yes.

Can Valor TPMS inflate tires?

No.

What is the warranty of Valor TPMS?

Valor standard warranty is one year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Please check the details of our warranty policy in the User’s Manual.

How much does it cost to install the sensor?

Normally $30-$35, depending on who your tire shop is.

How long do the sensors last?

Normally 5-7 years but if there are a lot of issues with the tires, the battery life could be shortened.

Are sensor batteries replaceable?

No, the entire sensor must be replaced. The sensor is completely sealed in factory to prevent leakage in the harsh environment inside the tire.

How do I know when a sensor battery gets low?

Check the sensor voltage with our SmarTool, If it’s below 2.1V, then you should replace the sensor within the next couple of weeks.

What is the operational temperature range of the sensors?

Between -40℃ and 85℃

Does Valor sensor require the tire to be dismounted or removed?

Yes. Valor sensors are installed inside tires onto the rim.

When does the sensor start to transmit the tire data?

The sensor will start to transmit the tire data under below conditions:

Every 30 seconds under normal working conditions
Immediately at a 20% low from baseline pressure
Immediately at a 30% high from baseline pressure
Immediately at a fast leakage of losing 4.8PSI in 16 seconds about 5PSI in 15 seconds
Immediately at a high temperature exceeding 80℃

What happens when I rotate my tires or replace a tire?

You can either move the chip that comes with the sensor to the new location or reprogram a new chip using the handheld smartTtool. Most facilities move the chip.

How to set baseline pressure?

You can either press the set button, or use the handheld SmarTool to set the baseline pressure. Please refer to the manuals for details.

Do I have to set alarming temperature?

No, temperature warning is set in factory as 80℃. System will give warning once temperature in tire exceeds 80℃.

How do I check temperature of tires?

Press the switch button at the right side of display unit to switch to temperture.
